Four steps. Zero lost refunds.
Snap your receipt
The Reaper reads the store, date and each item for you. No photo? Pick the store and date yourself.
Get the exact deadline
From the store's own policy. Member perks, holiday extensions, weird exceptions. All of it.
Get warned in time
Free emails 7 days, 2 days and the morning it closes. The Reaper knocks. Then he gets impatient.
Return it, rescue it
Show the receipt from your phone at the counter, then mark it returned and watch your total climb.
Your receipt, ready at the counter.
Save a receipt and we email you a link to it with the photo attached, so you have a copy even if you lose the paper. Every saved receipt lives in My receipts with its deadline and days left — tap one and show it at the register.
We keep each receipt as long as its store's policy needs: 30 days past the return deadline, a year for stores with no deadline, or 90 days for stores we don't have rules for yet. Delete any receipt sooner whenever you like.
The Reaper keeps watch.
Set a reminder from the calculator and confirm it from your inbox. The Reaper emails you 7 days before, 2 days before and the morning your window closes, at 9 AM your time. Every email has a one-tap stop link.
Already returned it? Mark it in My receipts and the reminders for that receipt stop on their own.
Good questions, straight answers.
Is ReceiptReaper free?
Yes. The return-date calculator, email reminders, saving receipts and the rescue game are all free. There's no password and no app to install.
Do I need an account?
No password, ever. To open My receipts, enter the email you saved receipts with and we email you a one-time sign-in link. Your phone stays signed in for 90 days.
How is the refund amount worked out?
When you snap a receipt, the Reaper reads each item and its price. When you mark an item returned, we add its share of the receipt's sales tax, because refunds usually include tax. If your refund slip says something different, just change the amount before you save.
What does “Still in the ground” mean?
Money on your saved receipts that you haven't marked yet and can still take back, because the return window is still open. Stores with no deadline aren't counted, since there's nothing to miss.
What happens when I mark something as kept?
It moves to “Made peace with.” It doesn't count as lost money, it just means you decided. Once every item on a receipt is returned or kept, that receipt's reminders stop.
How do I move up a level?
Every dollar you mark as returned adds to your Rescued from the grave total. At $250 you rise from the Coffin to the Crypt, at $1,000 to the Mausoleum, and at $5,000 you reach the Necropolis. One big return — a TV, a ring — can jump you up more than one level at once.
Are returns verified?
Not yet. For now it works on the honor system: you tell the Reaper what you returned. Next, you'll be able to snap your refund receipt to get a verified mark.
Which stores does it know?
More than 40 big US stores, each checked against the store's own return policy page, including member perks and holiday extensions. You can still save a receipt from any other store.
