The return window
- Store and jcp.com purchases can be returned or exchanged with a receipt within 60 days of the original purchase date. Refunds go to your original payment or a JCPenney gift card.
- Merchandise must come back with its original tags (they only need to be attached for special occasion dresses and men's tuxedos).
- For jcp.com orders, your order confirmation email, shopping history, packing slip or pickup receipt counts as a receipt.
Holiday returns (2026)
- Most purchases made in store or at jcp.com on or after October 1, 2026 can be returned through January 31, 2027 with an original or gift receipt.
No receipt?
- You may get a Merchandise Return Voucher at the item's lowest selling price in the last 45 days. A valid photo ID is required.
Where to return & fees
- Store returns are always free. Mail returns of jcp.com orders cost a flat $8 per order, taken from your refund.
- Furniture and mattresses: call customer care at 1-800-322-1189.
- Marketplace seller items: within 30 days of receipt, by mail or at a JCPenney store if small enough.
Can't be returned
- Gift cards, donations, monogrammed, personalized or altered items, body jewelry, face masks, false eyelashes, ear piercing kits, perishable food, services and shipping charges.
