The return window
- Academy accepts returns of most unused, new-condition items within 60 days of purchase, refunded to your original form of payment.
- Store purchases (and online orders picked up in store) go back to any Academy store. Academy.com and app orders can go back to a store or by mail.
- Returned items must be resalable. Cash refunds need the original receipt.
No receipt?
- Returns without a receipt or online receipt need a valid ID and get merchandise credit. Academy monitors returns and may limit or refuse them.
Final sale & restrictions
- Firearms and ammunition are final sale (except brands sold only at Academy) — defective ones go to the manufacturer.
- Bows, crossbows, knives, shooting accessories, tree stands and other hunting equipment are final sale.
- Electronics, air beds and massage guns: unopened with tags and all parts for a refund; opened and defective = same-item exchange only.
- Bats, golf clubs, paddles, racquets, rods and reels, hoverboards, e-bikes and electric scooters: returnable only if still in the original packaging.
- Boats, kayaks and trailers can't be returned once titled. Gift cards and trading cards can't be returned.
